General Information + FAQs

Is Saltwater Vintage & Uncommon Prints based in North America?
Yes! We are proudly Canadian (West coast). Our select fine art print partners are located in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A., and Alberta, Canada.
Do you specialize in restored art from a certain period?
We feature for sale uncommon, little-known, or neglected art from magazines, books, and publications dating from the late 19th- and early 20th-centuries.
Where do you find these illustrations and artworks?
We research and painstakingly digitally restore vintage, unknown, and uncommon illustrations, magazine and book covers, and original artwork (particularly Art Nouveau) from 19th- and early 20th-century literary and art magazines, and obscure European and North American digital archives. Many of the artworks we find and restore are from the long-forgotten illustrations on internal pages of vintage magazines such as Jugend, so are lesser-known than the original cover images might be. You're getting a forgotten gem!
What is your goal or mission?
To bring back to life lesser-known, uncommon magazine and book covers, page art, and illustrations from late 19th- and early 20th-century publications.
Do you offer a wholesale discount for commercial and bulk buying?
We certainly believe some of this art is made for large-scale! We love to work with interior designers and commercial buyers, including restaurants, bars, corporate offices, and new home builders' display homes. Our fine art print partners in Edmonton, Alberta, and Seattle, Washington are accustomed to commercial and bulk orders. We'd be glad to tell you more about their capabilities and expertise.
Where can I find your print guide?
Look for our printing FAQs in the main menu. We also list our standard print sizes beside each product. However, if you are interested in a custom size, please don't hesitate to ask! We list "standard" sizes (North American) but our skilled print partners can print many European or custom sizes: no problem!
What is Public Domain?
We strive to ensure the original art works from which we derive our prints are copyright-free and in the public domain. The public domain consists of all creative work to which no exclusive intellectual property rights apply. Those rights have usually expired after a certain period, depending on the country. The images on this website are derivative works from original digital images in the public domain, requiring considerable digital restoration skill. You may not use these images for any commercial purpose without written permission, including but not limited to creating derivative products of any kind, or any other commercial purpose. Also see our blog post on Public Domain...
Copyright information?
Since we essentially create "derivative" works (digital copies of the original works are edited, cleaned up, flaws removed), the images of art prints and all products on this website are ©Saltwater Trading Canada, Saltwater Vintage & Uncommon Prints and ©saltwatervintageuncommonprints.com. Check the footer at the bottom of the page for more copyright information.

What forms of payment does the shop have?
We are a Shopify store (go Canada!) so we work with Shopify to offer their standard secure payment options. This includes Mastercard, Paypal, Stripe + Visa.
Do you offer refunds, returns, or exchanges?
Unfortunately, we don't offer returns, exchanges, or refunds. This is simply because we print on demand and we pay our print and framing suppliers as soon as you place your order. If something arrives damaged, please take a photo and email it to us within THREE days (72 hours) of receipt. We'll see how we can help. *See our Refund Policy in the footer, below.

If you are at all worried that a print won't look right, or you are unsure about the right size or material to choose, just get in touch! Between us and our expert printing partners, we'd be happy to offer advice. We also subscribe to a print simulator program that shows what different sizes of your print choice will actually look like on a wall. Just ask, and we can run it through for you!
