WHO WE ARE

Saltwater Vintage & Uncommon Prints was created by a creative team on the West Coast of Canada. We research and painstakingly restore vintage, unknown, and uncommon illustrations, magazine and book covers, and original artwork (particularly Art Nouveau) from 19th- and early 20th-century literary and art magazines, and European and North American archives.

IS SALTWATER VINTAGE PRINTS BASED IN NORTH AMERICA?

Yes! We live on the West Coast and our printers are based in Seattle, Washington, and Alberta, Canada. We conscientiously use made-in-North-America products and services, whenever possible.

WHAT WE DO

It's a complex task, identifying and restoring 19th- and early 20th-century vintage, public domain, unknown, and uncommon illustrations and magazine art. But we just can't stand to see this little-known or lost art without a good home! And it's so rewarding to see our blemish- and damage-free restorations in super-high resolution digital format, ready for printing and framing (prints, posters, canvas) through our professional print partners in the U.S. and Canada.

OUR FINE ART PRINTERS

We use the awesome services of two fine art printers: one in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and one in Seattle, Washington, USA. Both have the latest in giclée photographic printers: printer technology meant for professional-quality photo/art print work – no mass-produced flimsy prints here! They only print with aqueous pigment inks for the best longevity and colour permanence. Our main Alberta fine art printers create 21mil cotton canvas prints with a matte white gesso that will not crack when stretched over hand-stretched over basswood stretcher bars. Both printers have a full custom framing shop on site and professional canvas stretching capabilities.
